At Computex 2015 AMD introduced the Carrizo, first APUs to support HSA (Heterogeneous Systems Architecture), a set of hardware and software specifications for leveraging the GPU for general-purpose computing. Along with SAPPHIRE, AMD FirePro also demonstrated multi GPU single large surface (SLS) technology using an AMD FirePro W7100, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions using the AMD FirePro R5000 and energy-efficient, high performance computing (HPC) using the AMD FirePro S9150
The format was very simple, you receive a drawing of the model in your welcome pack and then you register to compete in the PTC Creo area of the Solution Expo. We have 4 workstations that competitors can use and in an effort to allow as may to compete as possible, we limit the time to 20 minutes. Your time along with the accuracy of your final design with decide your score.
There will be daily winner who’ll walk away with a 3D Connexion prize and the top 4 competitors will have a final head-head on Tuesday 9th in the Solution Expo.
At PTC Live, AMD FirePro’s Jon Clark presented: GPU Acceleration with PTC Creo Parametric – Push your Design and Engineering Productivity to the Limit!
PTC Creo takes advantage of advanced graphics capabilities and new visual features, provides increased levels of interactivity, advanced shading techniques, real-time rendering, as well as visualization of very complex mechanical assemblies in the design workflow.
This presentation demonstrated the specific tuning optimizations and tools in Creo to supercharge design and simulation workflows using Dell Precision workstations and AMD FirePro GPUs, providing examples of unique customer scenarios where graphics performance has impacted their workflow, and provide ways to ensure you get the best performance and a great visual experience for your investment.
PTC Live Global is the largest training and networking event for product development professionals who want to save time, streamline processes and improve work quality using PTC products.

AMD FirePro and Dell partnered for the Siemens PLM Japan Meet last week. The 400+ attendees represented the top Japanese companies in automotive, engineering and electronic design.
The AMD/Dell booth featured an high, performance, accelerated Siemens NX demo running on both a desktop workstation (Dell Precision 5180 Workstation with AMD FirePro W7100) and mobile workstation (Dell Precision M2800 with AMD FirePro M4800 graphics). The Seimens NX Booth in the main exhibit area was also powered by a Dell Precision 5180 Workstation with AMD FirePro W7100.
Many design engineers rely on NX from Siemens PLM Software, which provides a professional environment to design, manipulate, simulate and analyze product assemblies. High quality, real-time 3D modeling is essential to the entire product development process, with many assemblies having hundreds or even thousands of components. AMD FirePro W Series GPUs are designed and built for this purpose, with extensive testing and certifications by Siemens and AMD to ensure the highest level of performance.
GPUs are a compelling solution for HPC, boasting impressive densities and exceptional performance per watt with GPU-accelerated supercomputers dominating the Green500 list. Due to major advances in GPU technology and the rise of OpenCL, the open standard for parallel programming, more science and engineering firms are turning to GPU servers and clusters to crunch complex datasets.

AMD FirePro S9150 is the first card to deliver two teraflops of sustained DGEMM double-precision compute performance, but the list of achievements doesn’t stop there. AMD FirePro has broken new ground in a number of areas, including:
FIRST on the November 2014 Green500 List
FIRST to break the 5 GFLOPS-per-watt barrier
FIRST GPU server card to have full double-precision floating point performance
FIRST GPU server card to have 16GB GDDR5 memory, the largest for a single-chip server GPU4
BEST performance per watt
GREAT performance per dollar

The largest and most technologically advanced display wall in the world is located in New York’s Times Square at 1535 Broadway, between 45th and 46th Streets. The 25,000 square feet of Ultra-High Definition digital signage with 24 million pixels, is powered by AMD FirePro professional graphics cards. To get a better understanding of the size of this display, that’s one city block in length and eight stories high!
Driving the visual display are 3 AMD FirePro cards using Eyefinity Technology, with each card powering six sections of the display for a combined resolution of 10,048 x 2,368 pixels. The individual display sections are synchronized across graphics cards and zones using the FirePro S400 synchronization module
The Lattice-CSC cluster, located in Darmstadt, Germany, is currently the #1 most energy-efficient supercomputer on the November, 2014 Green500 list. Coming in at 5.27 GFLOPS/W, the L-CSC cluster is the first cluster to break the 5 GFLOPS/W barrier on the Green500. The cluster is powered by AMD FirePro S9150 GPUs.
With 5:27 GFLOPS per watt using 600 AMD FirePro S9150s, the GSI L-CSC cluster delivers 20% better efficiency than the top ranked cluster on the June 2014 Green500 List
Ubitus’ GameCloud solution is designed to deliver instant console-level gaming experiences on demand without the need for high-end computers or game consoles. The solution will be demonstrated at Computex 2015 in Taipei (June 2-6). Ubitus will use an AMD FirePro W7100 based server running games on a wide range of devices including TV, set-top-boxes, Mac, PC, tablets and Smartphones.
Game titles will be presented in the exhibition including “Lego: Marvel Super Heroes”, “Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor” and “Injustice: Among the Gods” from Warner Bros that usually require high-end hardware to play.
