AMD FirePro W series vs. Nvidia Quadro K series in SolidWorks 2013

Posted by Tony DeYoung on August 14, 2013

This video shows side by side SPECapc SolidWorks 2013 benchmark performance tests comparing the AMD FirePro W5000 and AMD FirePro W7000 workstation graphics cards to Nvidia Quadro K2000 and Quadro K4000 cards. The AMD FirePro W5000 completes the test in half of the time it takes for the Nvidia Quadro K2000 to finish.

The 10 graphics-oriented tests included in the SPECapc benchmark for SolidWorks 2013 use three SolidWorks view settings—RealView, Ambient Occlusion and shading. RealView and Ambient Occlusion enable advanced shading in real-time, deliver outstanding depth and realism, and help to reduce the need for ray-traced rendering. AMD FirePro graphics drivers are thoroughly tested, optimized and certified for SolidWorks 2012 and 2013.
