The newly announced Barco MXRT-7500 is a high-end display controller for medical imaging. It uses the AMD FirePro W7000 core and adds medical imaging specific driver enhancements. Specifically the MXRT-7500 uses PCIe 3.0 and can drive up to four full resolution displays attached via DisplayPort 1.2 for ultra-fast loading of medical images and large datasets. The drivers are optimized to work with Barco’s Nio and Coronis display products (e.g. the new Coronis 6MP diagnostic color display system with LED backlights) as well as its MediCal QAWeb software solution and the leading PACS (picture archiving and communications system) applications.

Compared to the previous generation, the MXRT-7500 achieves, on average, a 34% performance improvement on 2D benchmarks, a 28% improvement on OpenGL 3D benchmarks, and a 40% improvement on DirectX 3D benchmarks.
